Getting started

After installing SceneChat, open its toolbar icon, create an email account, choose a username, and verify your email. Then play a video. Identification and timeline selection run automatically.

Creating your account

Use 3?24 letters, numbers, or underscores for your username. Capitals are saved in lowercase; spaces, markup, and invisible formatting characters are rejected. Passwords need 8?128 characters, with no required mix of capitals, symbols, or numbers. Enter the same password in both password fields. A longer, unique password or passphrase is encouraged.

If an earlier signup saved your login but did not finish your profile, sign in with that email and password and choose a username in the account menu. If the username is taken, choose another. Verification emails can take a few minutes; check spam and use ?Send another link? if needed.

Community guidance

Keep reactions relevant to the current moment. Avoid future spoilers, harassment, hateful content, threats, spam, and publishing someone?s private information. Reports are reviewed by project operators, who may remove reactions or restrict abusive accounts. Do not share passwords or sensitive personal information in reactions.

A title or scene looks wrong

Open the automatic-matching card and choose “Correct the match.” This optional correction is saved for the page. Some players block readable frames or captions. Different edits only share reactions when scene evidence is strong enough; otherwise they use separate timelines.

Likes and profile stats

Verified viewers can like other viewers’ reactions once per account and undo their like. Your profile shows the number of reactions you posted and likes your reactions received.

Reports and hidden viewers

Use a reaction’s options menu to report a spoiler, abuse, or spam. You can also hide that viewer’s reactions on your device. Project operators review reports in the Firebase console.

Password recovery and deletion

Use “Forgot password?” on the sign-in form to request a reset email. To delete your account and contributed records, open your profile and choose “Delete account and my data.” Enter your password to confirm. If interrupted, repeat deletion to finish. Removing the extension alone does not delete your account.

Coverage

SceneChat targets standard browser video players, including embedded players. Coverage varies across websites. Browser internal pages, closed custom players, protected media, and fullscreen behavior can limit the extension.
